magiClass voting system - מג'יקלאס

magiClass is an interactive voting system that operates within the normal classroom. We use the system to navigate the lesson in the most efficient way, by examining the student's comprehension at the main junctions of the lesson. By doing so, we are reducing knowledge gaps, increasing attentiveness, and improving class achievements.

In a normal classroom, when I ask a question, I get an answer from only one student. At best, there is a discussion between the teacher and 2 or 3 other students, and it is usually from the same group of students. Teachers today do not have any tool to know what happens with the rest of the class.

We all know the normal distribution graph of the grades level - We have some students that have lower grades, some have higher, but most of our students are right in the middle. The problem is that the teacher speaks almost exclusively with the elite group of students, and by doing so, he unintentionally expands the knowledge gap in the classroom.

The solution is to direct the question to the whole class using the magiClass voting system and getting an immediate response from all of the students.

Each student receives an identified remote clicker that enables the teacher to get all the students answers by asking only one question. Each student gets a personal indication about the correctness of his answer, and the teacher gets an immediate distribution graph that shows the real level of understanding among the class students.

Now, we have a true picture of the class knowledge level, and we can use this very important information to navigate the lesson accordingly and efficiently.
I can reinforce problematic issues or strengthen a specific student. I can choose whether to continue with the lesson, move to another subject, or to expound the same question until it is understandable. My decisions on how to conduct the lesson are now based on what is really happening in the classroom.

If we look at the level of comprehension in a graph, we can see the gap between the students increases as the lesson progresses.

By using the magiClass voting system, we can pause the lesson at a certain point, examine the level of understanding, and by handling the specific issues that require our attention, we are reducing knowledge gaps and improving class achievement.

The magiClass system can be used for asking multiple-answers questions at any junction of the lesson, to rehearse former lessons, learn common mistakes, stimulate discussions with survey questions, practice homework, and many more.

At the end of each lesson, an automatic report is being generated, giving the teacher full information including participation grade for each student and a number of correct answers to each subject.
The teacher can also get graphic reports, including average, median, and standard deviation. All reports can also be exported to excel for farther analysis.
